Summer Closure

As September approaches so does a hectic schedule... My son will be in school, swimming lessons start, and new items will be added to the shop as online shopping starts to perk up again once the weather gets cooler.

Although I am sad that yet another summer seemed to move by too quickly, I always look forward to a routine and of course chunky sweaters, and Pumpkin Spice lattes from Starbucks (I am totally bribing a Starbucks employee to sell me a bottle of that syrup, so my Tassimo can start working out again).

I always look forward to seeing pumpkins and conjuring up Halloween costumes for the kids. Already my son is dreaming of a Hans Solo (Star Wars) costume, and I am trying to figure out a Harry Potter inspired costume for my daughter.

I have been stocking my online list of recipes with comfort foods such as Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies, Gingerbread Cheesecake, and beef stew. Ahhhh how I love a good stew. Since we live close to the Rocky Mountains, it wont be long now before the weather turns cold and the leaves start to fall.

Here are a few images that been inspiring me lately!

How freakin good are these lattes?? Yummy!

We make our own dough all the time, so next time I will surprise the kids with cheese ghosts!

The perfect fall outfit! Comfortable yet stylish! Plus she probably is gulping down a Pumpkin Spice Latte!!

My daughter the diva! Wearing her Nori Boots, and Little Wellies dress. she is all girl this one!!

My handsome son, who inspires me every day!

Halloween Samples

I was thrilled when Christina from Little Wellies asked me to design and create the hair accessories for her Disney Princess Halloween Costumes. I was already sold, but when she told me the photo shoot was taking place at Disneyland I had to be a part of this project. I designed hair accessories for Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella and Snow White. As Little Wellies finished the costumes, I will post the pics! After the photoshoot, the headbands will be available at Giddy Up & Grow upon request!

Summer Sizzler

Since we live in Canada our summer season is very short. However, we enjoy every minute of it. This year our family headed west to B.C. where we enjoyed 10 days of family time, beach time and summer heat! Below are a few of my favorite summer holiday pics!

During our down time, I had a chance to sit back and get some inspiration for some new fall Giddy Up & Grow designs. Below are a few newbies!

Working on Halloween Samples

For my Giddy Up & Grow accessory shop, I have to start working on halloween ideas early. I have a bunch of new fall and halloween inspired hair accessories coming at the end of summer. But the Bunny ears I have been working on are just too cute to hide. I think I might even start offering them in the shop early, as I already have a waiting list of orders. What sets these ears apart from other halloween ears you might find, is the girly vintage fabric in the center of the ears, and that I use both hard headbands for older girls, as well as a wider soft nylon headband for newborns and babies 2 and under. How darling are these ears!!! Seen here on my daughter who is 18 months old.

I have been buying different things for my daughter to wear in an upcoming photo shoot. This is the theme that I am going with, Boho Baby. Kids & Felt Markers...

Both of my kids are creative and love craft time... But I must say their favorite thing to color with are jumbo felt markers. Of course I only buy the non-toxic washable markers from crayola for this very reason... See pics below!!

Shaping up for summer!!

Ok ladies, we do it every year right!! Decide we will loose a few pounds before swimsuit season begins... I do it myself every year and swear I will just eat salad until I look like a supermodel! However, it never lasts as I just "LOVE" food too much, oh and a great glass of red wine! So in order to try and eat salad as much as I can, I go on the hunt for some great salad dressings. My mom, is an amazing chef, and she told me of this homemade dressing that is to die for!! Its super simple and tastes great. I think it especially tastes great with fruit in the salad! Here is the recipe:

DRESSING
1 tbsp of maple syrup
2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 clove of garlic crushed (just crush enough to get the juices flowing)
pepper to taste
1/2 cup olive oil

SALAD
Spring greens or salad mix of your choice
1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese
3/4 cup of caramelized pecans
1 cup of fresh strawberries or orange slices

Enjoy!!!!

Family Adventures!!

Very often our little family jumps in the car and goes on an adventure. We don't have to go that far, but wherever we go its usually always fun for everyone...Sometimes its the zoo, sometimes the park, picnic, hike in the woods etc. Yesterday we went to the mall, grabbed Vietnamese subs and went to the park.

I love the look on my sons face!!

She is so sweet!

My son is such a ham!

The hubs and I... Happy!!
